Competitions are held every week throughout the year.  They are a great way for you to meet new people and play golf in a competitive and sociable environment.  We have many formats of competitions and these are open to all full members and associate members.

Every weekend sees a competition running from Friday - Sunday.  You just book a time like normal in the shop but book in to the competition when you report in to play.  Individual stableford and medal competition entry fees are £3 with a  £1 optional 2's sweep.  The 2's sweep means everyone who scores a 2 in the competition gets a share of the sweep money.  Other competitions have different fees.

There are many different forms of competition in our fixture list.  The staff in the golf shop are very happy to help you with any questions.  Below is a brief guide to each type of format.

Stablefords: These are the most popular and are handicap competitions with points being awarded for scores on each hole.

Medals: This is the simplest handicap form of golf.  Your score over 18 holes minus your handicap.

Pairs Stablefords: Enter in pairs and it is your best score between you on each hole that counts to your total.

Greensomes Stablefords: Enter in pairs. You both tee off and choose the best tee shot.  Play alternate shots from there.

Texas Scramble: A fun event for where you choose the best tee shot then all play from there.  Repeat until you hole out.

Tuesday League: This is a weekly 9 hole individual stableford played throughout the summer.

Matchplay: This is a format where you play directly against an individual or pair on a hole by hole basis.

Bowmaker:  Best 2 scores out of 3 on each hole to be combined to form a team score.

As well as these formats there are numerous social events throughout the year.  Keep an eye on your emails and noticeboards for more information.
