I am writing today to set out my current position on the outbreak of Covid-19. Below are some questions and answers that I hope will explain what will happen here at FFGC. I will be honest and say that on the back of the worst 6 months in my working memory the last thing we needed was this in the month that the majority of our members renew their membership fees. I hope the solutions below give you confidence to renew your membership without the fear of losing out. If you have any questions or fears I have put my personal email address and mobile number at the bottom of this email and would be very happy to talk through any thoughts you may have.
Golf is a social sport played outdoors with participants not in close proximity to one another. With correct behaviours such as not shaking hands, using alcohol gels and washing of hands immediately before and after play I believe Golf is one of the best suited activities to keep the population active through this time. Even those in isolation are able to enjoy the golf course but may choose to not use the other club facilities as to avoid other people.
Here at Ferndown Forest we will adhere to the government rules and guidelines. We will keep all facilities open until told otherwise and we will keep all our customers up to date via email and social media. I will be in the garden room tomorrow morning at 11am to answer any questions you may have.
What happens to my membership if the course closes?
If the course has to close we will suspend all memberships for this period and your renewal dates will be adjusted accordingly so you will not lose out financially from the situation. If you pay monthly your payments will continue as normal but your renewal date will be adjusted accordingly.
What happens if I feel I have to isolate myself for a long period?
If the government or your doctor advises you, or you just feel like you want to self isolate you may suspend your membership for an unlimited period of time for a minimum of 1 month and your renewal date will be adjusted accordingly. Please just email us to confirm you would like to suspend your membership and then let us know when you would like to start it up again.
What is the club doing to prevent contamination?
The facility is being regularly cleaned and sanitised with extra care and attention to high traffic areas. We will be increasing the presence of alcohol gels and anti bacterial hand wash (dependant on supply) throughout the site. We would like to encourage the following changes...
Please do not shake hands with other golfers or staff members
Please do not touch the flags unless you really need to
Please do not share drinks, food, golf clubs and clothing
Please report to me directly if you see anything you feel should be reported or changed
Can I come to the Club if i show symptoms?
The NHS advice is that anyone showing symptoms of Covid-19 should self isolate for 7 days. These symptoms are a dry cough and/or a fever with temperature. There are many common colds and other illnesses out there that would mean you can carry on with normal life. We ask if you show the specific symptoms that you do not come to the club for 7 days.
Will Ferndown Forest be Open as Normal?
We will endeavour to keep open with the same staffing levels. Please have patience if we are short staffed as the staff and their families health takes priority so there will be days we are understaffed. This may lead to some short term changes of opening hours and limited service but we will keep you well informed.
Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions
