Ferndown Golf Club ’ The Old Course' was Designed by Harold Hilton, the Open Champion in 1892 and 1897. Harold was in fact, the only British amateur golfer to win the British and US Amateur titles in the same year (1911). Ferndown opened for play in 1913 and has become one of the top Golf Clubs in Dorset and the UK. The ‘Alliss Course’ designed by Mr J Hamilton Stutt, was constructed and launched in 1969. Consisting of 9 holes, but with a variety of tee positions offering 18 different starting points, this challenging course is enjoyed by members and visitors alike and is a valuable addition to all that Ferndown can offer. A founder member and past Chairman of the British Association of Golf Course Architects, Mr J Hamilton Stutt had previously worked alongside Mackenzie Ross on such well-known courses as Turnberry – Ailsa Course, and St Mellion.
A members Club managed by an Executive Committee dedicated to improving the course and the whole golf experience.
The Club in 2020 invested in a NEW driving range which includes 4 Outdoor & 4 Indoor bays, Also they invested in a Trackman Performance Studio for Teaching & Custom Fitting.
The successful candidate will replace our PGA Golf Manager who is leaving after a successful 8 years stint.
The role will take responsibility for the experience of both members and visitors, alongside development of the Retail business within the Professional Shop. You will be required to manage:-
Tee Times
Members Competitions via Intelligent Golf
Driving Range
Fleet of Lithium Battery Buggy’s with GPS
Fleet of Electric Trolleys
Support Staff within the Shop
Reporting to the Captains Committee
Integral Part of the Organisation for Corporate Days, Charity Days & The Festival Week
Alliss Course Academy Organiser
Golf coaching and associated qualifications would be advantageous but not mandatory, golf shop management experience would be required together with a management focus for members and visitors.
