We have a very welcoming Seniors Section, for over 55's, here at Ferndown Forest Golf Club.
As soon as you are registered as a member of Ferndown Forest Golf Club you can join the seniors section and participate in their activities. There is no joining fee.
If you are interested in playing please ask in the Golf Shop or email ffgc.seniors@gmail.com for more information. We also have a large noticeboard in the changing rooms on your right hand side as you walk in, on which notices are posted.
Seniors' competitions take place every Monday morning with a regular turn out of up to 50 members. The format varies from Stablefords and Medals to a monthly Texas Scramble/Team Game in the main season. Competition tee times are randomly drawn in advance to encourage all members to mix and become part of the section.
All members handicaps are tested in the Medals and Stablefords.
General play scorecards can also be recorded via the Club Handicap software.
Social roll-ups are held each Wednesday morning and new members are very welcome to join in.
We also play regular matches against other local golf clubs on a home and away basis.

As soon as you are registered as a member of Ferndown Forest Golf Club you can join the seniors section. There is no joining fee.
The club’s website is ferndownforestgolfcourse.co.uk from which you can navigate to the ‘members area’ and click on ‘competitions and handicaps’, then further down click on ‘competitions and handicaps website’.
The club uses computer software called ‘Master Scoreboard’ to maintain members records and also allows entry into competitions.
You will need to click on your name and enter a password to gain entry. First time users need to use the password ‘ferndown’.
The seniors section holds a competition every Monday morning throughout the year, starting at 7.30am in the summer months. The competitions are a friendly mix of Stablefords, Medals and particularly throughout the summer season, team events such as ‘Texas Scrambles’, ‘Bowmakers’ and the much loved ‘Yellow Peril’. Entry is via the club website, App, or club shop. Members are allowed to book 15 days in advance of a competition. Entry closes 7 days before the competition in order to allow for the draw for playing partners, which is randomised. Entering a competition is a great way to meet other members. You can also book via the pro shop.
Entry into a competition typically costs £3.00. This is split £2.50 which goes towards the divisional winners and runners-up cash prizes, and 50p for the ‘twos’ sweep competition winners.
Winners/Runners-up winnings are credited to their golf club account held by the pro shop, and can be redeemed at any time against purchases in the club shop.
On competition days a player is required to confirm entry into a competition by logging into the software located in the foyer of the pro shop. This also confirms the player’s current handicap which is to be used for the competition.
At the end of the round players log into the software again to record their score hole by hole.
The club secretary posts competition results on ‘Master Scoreboard’ as well as emailing each player with the results.
Some of the Monday competitions held throughout the year include competitions to win one of 14 perpetual trophies that the seniors section has available. Also, during the summer months the section runs two matchplay competitions, one for singles and the other for pairs. Details to follow.
Wednesday & Friday roll-ups are held throughout the year and consist of non-qualifying stableford competitions.
Pre-booked time slots are available from 7.30am in summer and 8.00am in winter. However you must assemble 15 minutes prior to these times in order to put your ball in the hat for the randomised draw for 3 ball partners.
Roll-ups are run separately from the main club competitions and are administered by the ‘roll-up admin team’.
The roll-ups are free to enter, however if you are feeling competitive you can participate in the monetary rewards by paying £2.00.
The overall winner gaining the most stableford points receives 50% of the pot, with the winners of the front nine and back nine holes receiving 25% each.
However, there will be a handicap adjustment for the winners, in order to ensure that a player does not win all the time.
A player winning over the whole 18 holes will suffer a deduction of two strokes for the next two competitions.
A player winning either the front or back nine holes will suffer a deduction of one stroke for the next competition.
Roll-ups are a great way to play fun, relaxed golf in convivial company.
