Ladies Committee Update
Summer Golf Competition - Entries are now being taken in the golf shop for the Ladies Singles Matchplay competition. This is a knockout competition that runs throughout the summer open to all ladies who have a current handicap and would like to play competitive golf. The entry fee is £5. The draw for the first round will be made on the 5th April and will be published on Masterscoreboard.
Ladies’ Section Introduction
We have a very welcoming ladies’ section for all ladies at Ferndown Forest Golf Club. As soon as you are registered as a member of the golf club you can join us and participate in our activities. There is no additional joining fee.
Our official ladies’ day takes place every Wednesday morning and all ladies, of any standard, are welcome to join us and we play a mix of formal and fun games see below for the diary and also a guide to competitions and fun games rules.
Social roll ups are held each Monday and Friday morning and new members are very welcome to join in.
The Club uses computer software called Master Scoreboard to maintain members’ records and entry into competitions.
To join a Wednesday competition (9.30am in the summer and 10am in the winter) you will need to book your entry on ‘Future Competitions’ on Master scoreboard by 5pm on the Sunday evening immediately before the Wednesday. Once the competition entry has closed a random draw will be made for playing partners. We recommend that first time users contact the club shop to gain entry to the website.
Entry into a competition costs £3. From this sum 50p per person is put into a pot which pays out to anyone skilled enough to score a ‘2’ on any hole. Of the remaining £2.50 per entry a proportion is retained by the ladies’ section for their funds and the balance is then shared between winners and runners up. This means that prize money varies from week to week. Winnings will be credited to golf club accounts set up and held by the club shop (if you do not have one already the shop will set one up for you) and can be redeemed at any time against purchases in the shop or to offset your membership fees.
On Wednesdays players must confirm entry into a competition by logging into the computer in the club shop before starting their round. This will show the players’ current and playing handicap for the day which is to be used for the competition. At the end of the round players must log into the computer again to record their score for each hole. Once the competition has been closed by the Club Secretary the results will be published on Master Scoreboard and confirmed by email to each player. Prize money will follow.
